Best Airbnbs in Boston, MA [Updated for 2022, COVID edition]

Are you looking for a place to stay in Boston while you visit friends and/or family? Perhaps you’re a leaf peeper, coming for a weekend trip, running the Boston marathon, looking to indulge in an amazing lobster roll, or maybe having a microwedding in Boston and looking for a nice place to spend your first night as a married couple!

My top six areas to stay in Boston are Back Bay, Beacon Hill, Downtown Crossing, North End, Seaport, and Fenway. Boston’s a very small and walkable city!

All of the airbnbs in Boston that I am recommending have flexible cancellation, high ratings (specifically for cleanliness), and are in awesome locations that are easy to walk to and have access to public transportation.

The top three locations (Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and Downtown Crossing) are the ones that I recommend the most!

Back Bay & Copley Square

  • Newbury St – Eight blocks of shopping! Everything from designer stores to beloved chains
  • Copley Square Mall and Prudential Center – More shopping and great eats
  • Eataly – Italian food, desserts, pastries, and coffee
  • A 5-10 minute walk to the Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, Downtown Crossing, and Beacon Hill.

Closest MBTA is the Orange line Back Bay station or Green Line Arlington station

Beacon Hill

  • Most charming area in all of Boston! My favorite, for sure!
  • Acorn St – Most photographed street in Boston
  • Highest $ per square foot
  • Many of these brownstone apartments do not have elevators, so double check to make sure that you’re not walking up six flights of stairs every day!
  • A 5-10 minute walk to the Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, Downtown Crossing, and Back Bay.

Closest MBTA is the Green Line Arlington station

Downtown Crossing

  • Hustle and bustle! This is the city center of commerce. Not the most charming, but it’s easy to get around almost everywhere!
  • Super close to Chinatown for good Asian food!
  • A 5-10 minute walk to the Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, Beacon Hill, and Back Bay.

Closest MBTA is the Red Line Downtown Crossing, Orange line Chinatown, Green line Park Street station

North End

  • My favorite little neighborhood for awesome Italian food and seafood
  • Get your fill of Italian pastries: Mike’s Pastries, Modern Pastries, and Bova’s
  • Get the best lobster roll of all time: Neptune’s Oysters – Hot with butter!
  • Wander over to Christopher Columbus Park for some beautiful water views
  • Hang out at the Aquarium and say hello to the super old turtle
  • Visit some local foods and crafts at Boston Public Market
  • Hanover St is the main street in the North End, but there’s a lot of great eats on the side streets as well!

Closest MBTA is the Orange Line North Station

Seaport District

  • This recently redeveloped area of Boston is brand new – luxury condos, fancy restaurants, and an awesome bar scene.
  • Be sure to visit the Institute of Contemporary Art
  • Take a walk to see one of my my favorite views of Boston – Fan Pier along the Harborwalk
  • Most people stay in the Seaport Area if they’re going to a convention at the Boston Boston Convention & Exhibition Center
  • Fun activities, concerts, outdoor activities and greenery on the Lawn on D

Closest MBTA is the Silver Line World Trade Center

Fenway & Kenmore

  • So ideal for going to baseball games!
  • Bar hopping on Landsdowne Street
  • Easy access to amazing art at the Museum of Fine Art and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
  • Kenmore Square has delicious food especially Island Creek Oyster Bar!
  • Greenery at the Back Bay Fens park

Closest MBTA is the Green Line Fenway on Line D
