What’s it like working with Nicole & Team?

Before the wedding: learning who you are

Before your wedding day, we talk. Not just about timelines and logistics, but about you two.

What you love.
What makes you cringe.
Who matters most to you.
The why behind the choices you’re making.

The more I understand how you move through the world, the better I can photograph you in a way that actually feels like you.

I come in with curiosity.
With open eyes.
With genuine interest in who you are and how you show up with each other.

That understanding shapes what I notice, when I press the shutter, and what ultimately makes it into your final gallery.

What I’m doing while you’re living your day

While you’re catching up with friends, hugging family, and actually enjoying your wedding, I’m quietly paying attention.

I’m watching for distractions before important moments happen.
I’m adjusting small details that would pull attention in photos later.
I’m thinking two family groupings ahead so nothing gets missed.
I’m tracking time, light, and flow so nothing feels rushed or chaotic.

If you’re surprising your grandmother with a birthday cake, I’ll gently remove the napkin from around her neck and clear the table before it happens. You don’t have to ask. I’m already there.

This work is mostly invisible. Its impact shows up later.

Gentle leadership when it matters

I will step in when it helps.

If phones are bulging out of pockets during family photos, I’ll ask everyone to take them out.
If people are slouching, I’ll remind them to stand up straight, usually with a little humor.
If there’s a plus one who may or may not be permanent, I’ll quietly note it and make sure we photograph the group both with and without them.

I do this kindly. Efficiently. Without making it awkward.
You never have to manage these moments yourself.

Creative, but never careless

I take creative risks because that’s how meaningful work gets made.

I also always get the safe shots first. Always.

I edit my own work, image by image. I like being close to the process. I like seeing what worked, and what almost worked, because that’s how I get better.

I don’t love AI in creative work. I find it flattens feelings. Also, for my Asian clients, it thinks everyone’s blinking, and that’s just not acceptable.

AI is great for things like searching your gallery later. Type in flowers and every image with flowers appears. It’s incredibly helpful.

But the emotion, the timing, the reason I chose that exact moment to press the shutter, that part is still human. That part is still just me.

How planners and venues experience working with me

Planners and venue teams consistently tell me they love working with me because I make their jobs easier.

I show up organized and prepared.
I don’t leave gear scattered around guest spaces.
I don’t slow the timeline or delay meals.
I don’t ask questions I should already know the answer to.
I don’t cause trouble or need special accommodations.
I always have plenty of Trader Joe’s snacks to share.

I understand the rhythm of a wedding day, and I respect everyone else’s role in it.

If publication matters, I also have long-standing relationships with magazine editors and know how to submit work properly.

Turnaround time and delivery

My contract allows up to six weeks for delivery. My lawyer made me in put in a buffer exists in case life happens.

In practice, every full wedding gallery I’ve delivered in the last decade has been returned in a week or less.

No stress. No overpromising. Just consistency.

Why couples choose me

There are millions of very talented photographers.

People choose me because of how I see the world.

I notice joy.
I notice light.
I notice the quiet, in-between moments that often go unnoticed.

I’ve always had a strong sensitivity to people. The way they move. The way they interact. The way care and connection show up without words.

If you’re interested, I’m always happy to share my story about how having a camera in my hand helped a once young, awkward Nicole find a sense of belonging.

I’m an introvert at heart, even though I’ve trained myself to be outgoing when the situation calls for it. Being introverted helps me observe more than I speak. It helps me notice things others don’t.

I believe that’s what makes me a good photographer.

Watching the light, honoring the moment

I track sunset and light throughout the day.

If the light turns beautiful, I’ll ask if you want to step away with me for five minutes for portraits. If you’re having a great time and don’t want to leave, say no.

My feelings will not be hurt.

Your experience always comes first.

At the end of the day

My goal is simple.

You feel calm, joy, and beautiful.
Your day feels unforced.
Your photos feel like the day you actually lived.

Everything else is quiet work in service of that.
