Boston Fenway Park EMC Club wedding
Kathleen and Kevin had a vibrant and energetic Boston Fenway Park EMC club wedding that was a complete reflection of the two of them. They both love sports (of course). The two played in a floor hockey league together. Kevin still plays in an ice hockey and softball league that Kathleen loves to go to and support.
When I first talked to Kathleen and Kathleen’s mom (Hi Patty!), Kathleen told me that they had 9 bridal party people ON EACH SIDE. Some quick brain math added up TWENTY people in the bridal party and I could just picture the Fenway staff saying no to any field access on the day of, mainly because there are so many events going on at Fenway during July, but also because the group was larger. As I got to know Kathleen and more detail about her Boston Fenway wedding, she consistently talked about how awesome her friends were and all of the fun stuff they do together – spending time outdoors, hiking, beach, camping, eating, bar-hopping, and just hanging out. I distinctly remember her saying, “Our favorite thing to do together is definitely hang out with all our friends. You’ll see why when you meet the wedding party”.
The wedding day came, and holy moly. This group was one of the most fun bridal party groups that I’ve ever photographed! They were goofy, so nice, and clearly had a lot of love for their friendships. After we departed a beautiful wedding suite at the Commonwealth Hotel (in the super cool baseball themed elevator), we walked over the Fenway, where we met up with the awesome Carrie Campbell, who graciously told our group that we were allowed field access, so long as we were respectful of the grass and that we moved efficiently through our formal portraits. YESSSSSSSSS! This news was met by lots of cheers, and the bridal party group and I swiftly made it onto the field and made some of the coolest portraits! Afterwards, I took Kathleen and Kevin to the dugout and created some more Fenway Park wedding portraits, just of the two of them! At this point, I’ve been to Fenway over a dozen times for weddings, so I feel like I know my way around the park pretty well (even though that my sense of direction is awful). Still though, everytime I’m there, there’s a sense of awe at what a cool icon this park is for the city of Boston. The beautiful wedding ceremony was held in the seats of Fenway, with the lovely park in the background. Kathleen held a beautiful bouquet of red roses and red peonies – her great grand mother’s favorite flowers. She wore little Red Sox details – on her bracelet and her garter! Kevin also had some cool red sox gear – a tie clip, a baseball hat, and some swanky cufflinks!
The Fenway EMC Club wedding reception was filled with emotional speeches, and some really cool attendees, like Kathleen’s skating coach, and the doctor that delivered Kathleen!
It was an absolute pleasure to photograph such a wonderful couple, surrounded by their wonderful family and the coolest friends (including India DuBois that has a pretty amazing cookie company – The Mint Mixer. Search deep within Instagram, and you can find HILARIOUS cookies that she made for her bachelorette).
Kathleen and Kevin, thank you for allow me to document the first day of your marriage.
