Ada May Laauwe – Now I lay me down to sleep
My favorite features on the beautiful baby Ada May are her gorgeous eyelashes and her chubby cheeks. I work with a non-profit organization called “Now I lay me down to sleep”, whose mission statement is to introduce remembrance photography to parents who are suffering the loss of a baby with a free gift of professional portraiture. Ada has a disorder called Polycystic kidney disease (PKD). Clusters of cysts develop within the kidneys, thus not leaving development room for Ada’s stomach or lungs and is causing complications with her eating and breathing. I spent the afternoon with Ada and her loving parents who spent nearly every moment talking and singing with their little one. If her mother, Kristen, wasn’t calling Ada pet names, she was re-decorating Ada’s crib either in matching pink monkey sheets and stuffed animals, or in bright green frog ensemble.
