What Is a Documentary Wedding Edit? A Guide for Couples
A wedding day goes by in a blur. The vows, the laughter, the tears, the heartfelt toasts—there’s so much happening that it can feel impossible to take it all in. That’s why we offer two different kinds of wedding films: cinematic highlight films and documentary edits.
Most couples are already familiar with cinematic highlight films. These are the beautifully polished, 4–6 minute films that feel like a movie trailer of your wedding. They’re crafted with music, slow motion, artistic shots, and emotional storytelling. They’re perfect for sharing online and rewatching when you want to be swept up in the magic of the day in just a few minutes.
But sometimes, couples want more than just the highlight reel. They want to see and hear important moments in real time. That’s where our documentary wedding edits come in.
What is a documentary wedding edit?
A documentary wedding edit is a full-length, chronological presentation of your wedding’s most important events, edited together so you can experience them exactly as they happened. Instead of stylized cuts or added music, you’ll hear the real audio of your vows, the laughter during your toasts, the cheers during your first dance, and all the little in-between moments that bring you right back to the day.
Ceremony documentary edits
Your ceremony documentary edit includes the entire ceremony from start to finish. The ceremony, in its entirety, is preserved so you can relive it just as it unfolded.
First dance and toast documentary edits
The reception documentary edit includes your first dance and all of the speeches and toasts. You’ll be able to rewatch these moments in full, complete with the original audio and all the emotions of the room.
Additional documentary edits
In addition to the ceremony and reception, we also offer documentary edits for other meaningful parts of your celebration. These might include rehearsal dinner speeches, reception performances, Baraat, Ketubah signing, Asian tea ceremonies, or other traditions and special events. Because every wedding is unique, we ask that these additional edits be discussed in advance so we can plan our coverage accordingly and ensure that these important moments are preserved in full.

How documentary edits are different from cinematic highlight films
- Highlight film: Short, cinematic, and emotionally charged. Designed for sharing. A polished story told in 4–6 minutes.
- Documentary edit: Long-form, authentic, and unfiltered. Designed for remembering. A complete record of your day’s most meaningful moments.
Think of your highlight film as the movie trailer you’ll show to friends and family, while your documentary edits are the full chapters you’ll revisit when you want to relive the day in detail.
Why couples love them
They’re easy to watch—no sorting through raw clips or files, just one complete film to press play and enjoy.
You’ll hear the exact words of your vows, speeches, and toasts.
You’ll get to watch entire dances and moments that might not make it into your highlight film.
