Anytime when I show my friends photos of Newport wedding venue, Belle Mer, the reactions are always the same. It’s either “WOW, where is this?” or “WOW, is this Belle Mer?”
Belle Mer is stunning and fully lives up to its tagline, “seaside glamour in Newport, Rhode Island”. Located in Narragansett Bay, Belle Mer lets me soak in the beautiful sun, calm waters, and one of the most stunning sunset locations in the Northeast. I always ask my couples during sunset if I can sneak them out for a few minutes to get a couple portraits of them with the beautiful colors in the sky! Most of the guests are already out there admiring the colors, the bridge and the water, anyway. :)
The Water Salon’s sophisticated, but minimal feel can hold 1000 guests for a reception, 520 guests for dinner and 280 guests for dinner and dancing.
The Island House can be accessed through the shell path and is conveniently next to the Rose Garden. It can hold 500 guests for reception, 250 guests for dinner and 190 guests for dinner and dancing.
Most of the weddings that I’ve attended at Belle Mer have had their wedding reception as well as their wedding ceremony (usually outdoors) here. It’s convenient so that guests can traverse straight from the ceremony over to cocktail hour. No driving needed!
My favorite part of Belle Mer is the loft. Commonly used as a bridal suite, it’s a relaxing atmosphere where a couple could get dressed for the big day. My brides often invite their bridesmaids there for hair, makeup, and the potentially complicated process of putting on the gown! Natural light spills through the large windows and bounces off of the clean white walls and high ceilings. It’s my favorite bridal room of all time.
I love it this oceanfront venue so much, that I don’t even mind the insane drive down to Newport, Rhode Island! Be sure to get your hotel blocks for this city early. It gets filled up quickly, especially if there’s a boating event in town!
