The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA is one of the coolest wedding spaces in the north shore of Boston. I’ve photographed ceremonies in East India Marine Hall, with the large windows letting natural light spill into the warm interiors. The Atrium has an incredible glass roof and tall ceilings. During portraits, I’ve been allowed to roam in certain wings of the museum with my couple for some interesting and creative wedding portraits. Some specific areas that I remember loving were the gigantic staircase in the back hallway, a large mirror structure in the Atrium for cool reflections and beautiful brick and nook-and-cranny alleyways outside.
As a note, car and foot traffic in Salem in October is insane because of fall Halloween activities and events. Should you decide to have your wedding in Salem during this time, be sure to get hotel blocks early!
