FEATURES OF THE MULTICULTURAL ARTS CENTER

The Multicultural Arts Center of East Cambridge Massachusetts is a stunning wedding destination. This distinctive space is perfect for any occasion from weddings, bar mitzvahs, private parties, corporate and even non-profit events.

The building was originally designed in 1814 by renowned architect Charles Bulfinch, and erected in 1889, originally as a county courthouse. On the other hand, Graham Gund, a modern architect, renovated it as a performing arts center in 1985. After it has been restored, it not has a two-story theater space with an exquisitely embellished ceiling with a wraparound mezzanine balcony.

MULTICULTURAL ARTS CENTER WEDDING VENUE

The Cambridge Multi Cultural Arts Center is different than your traditional Boston wedding hall. It offers a unique space – both indoor and outdoor options for your Multicultural Arts Center wedding ceremony.

I, personally, really love the Centanni Courtyard as an outdoor wedding space. It is an airy space surrounded by greenspace and quaint terraces, which you can opt to be decorated for your wedding ceremony. This place is perfect for ceremonies during the warmer months.

The Main Theatre is often used as a wedding reception space and is complete with a balcony and grand staircase for your reception entrance. It has extremely tall ceilings with Victorian embellishments, a walkway canopy that surrounds the room, and multiple large windows.

With the venues multiple art and historic background, your wedding day will surely be a special one filled with memories you’ll treasure forever.

RENTAL DETAILS

The venue has site fees for both wedding receptions and ceremonies. On weekdays, the rental fee is $300/hr for non-wedding events, while on Fridays to Sundays, you can rent the place for $4,900 for 8 hours for wedding and other events.

Inclusions of the fee are 8 hours of rental time, including set up and clean up time. They charge an additional $50 if you prefer an outdoor ceremony. You can opt for additional hours for a fee of $100/hr.

The rental packages include use of the venue, a production staff members, basic lighting design, basic sound (CD or iPod, and up to 5 mics), 5 metal music stands and free wifi.

Other rental items such as linens, dish ware, cocktail tables and decoration of flowers must be rented through an outside vendor, since the Multicultural Arts Center does not provide these services.

A fun fact is that your rental fee helps support the Center’s mission, which is to educate the community about diversity through the presentation of multicultural arts programs, and to make the center available to artists and groups who may not otherwise have access to a professionally equipped space.

FACILITIES AND CAPACITY

Your Multicultural Arts Center wedding can have different needs and set-up, luckily the venue has 2 events spaces you can use.

The Main Theatre can accommodate approximately 150 people for a seated dinner, with room for a small dance area, or up to 200 guests for a standing reception.

If you would prefer a more intimate gathering, you can also choose to hold your event at the Upper Gallery, which accommodated 40 to 50 people when seated.

To book an event, however, you need a minimum of 50 guests.

VENUE SERVICE OFFERINGS

No matter the size of your event, you can be sure that the Multicultural Arts Center has enough space to accommodate it. They also rent out lighting and sound equipment for events.

You can rent audio equipment for an event. You also don’t have to worry about where to get chairs, chair covers and tables, since the venue already has them.

You can also get wedding planning services and a day-of coordinator who will help manage all of the other vendors. They also have staff to help set-up and clean-up.

Unfortunately, they do not have a kitchen, so you will have to coordinate with an outside vendor for catering.

Despite not having any liability insurance, they do provide security, so you can be sure you can your guests are well taken care of and safe during your event.

Amenities

When you have your Multicultural Arts Center Wedding, you can expect that the venue has a designated ceremony area, with options for indoor or outdoor space, as well as a reception area and dance floor. However, the outdoor space is not covered, so you will need to have an oversight about the weather.

You can also be sure you can get ready comfortably since they have proper dressing rooms for the bride and groom.

To better accommodate your guests, they have a coat rack and public garage. The garage for parking is right across the street and down one block for $5 for the night. In case needed, the place has wheelchair access available. The venue also provides wireless internet.

RESTRICTIONS

To preserve the venue, the management requires that all decorations must be approved. It is also not allowed to have any throwing of rice, birdseed, confetti, etc.

For catering, you must choose from a list of vendors provided by the venue. As for the alcohol, it must only be serves by the licensed bartender/caterer you have chosen.

Amplified music is allowed, but only indoors. However, music is required to end by 11:00PM

Smoking must only be done outside for preservation of the arts center.

Lastly, for safety purposes, no open flames will be allowed for any type of event.
