Planning for Twilight Wedding Portraits

Blue is my favorite color

Jason proposed to me with a blue sapphire wedding ring.

I used to want blue hair (okay, maybe I still do).

I seek it out in photographs.

My favorite time of day is “Blue Hour”, a time during twilight when the sun has dipped below the horizon.

During the timeline planning phases, I always ask my couples if they would like to sneak out when the light is beautiful for sunset or twilight. I have to time it right, because often time, the best light is during speeches, dances, or some other formal reception event.

Some couples are a bit photo-fatigued because all of the wedding guests were very excited to take a photo with the couple during cocktail hour.I completely understand. However, sneaking out during the reception can be a nice quiet break. At most, we’re gone for 5-8 minutes!

Blue and yellow are a favorite color combination of mine because they are complimentary color pairs in the color wheel. Just some Modern Color Theory nerding out for ya!
