Room to Grow – A non-profit dedicated to babies in poverty
Last Fall, Karen embarked on a personal project to photograph kids. Of course, I tend to take ideas and run with it. Within hours, we took this very simple concept and created something pretty awesome.
- We wanted to photograph kids in a slightly longer mini-session format, in 45-minute sessions!
- Karen chose to donate our mini-session proceeds to a local nonprofit. She selected “Room to Grow” – dedicated to building a strong foundation for babies in poverty. “Room to Grow’s innovative program provides parents raising babies in poverty with one-on-one parenting support and essential baby items throughout their children’s critical first three years of life.”
- We also teamed up with Borrow Baby Couture/Borrow Mini Couture – a rental service for fancy designer label childrens’ clothing (Think Rent the Runway – Baby Gucci, Versace, Dior, etc!). They kindly lent us a couple dozen dresses!
- See here for our flyer from October 2013
This mini-session project was a HUGE success. We donated dozens of sweaters, books (even Spanish ones) and other items to Room to Grow! We thank ALL of our families for coming out and letting us photograph them! We’re considering doing another round of mini-sessions for the Spring!
This week, Karen, Shannon (our Northeastern Univeristy co-op) and I returned to Room to Grow to create new adveristing images for their marketing collateral. Five awesome families came in and dedicated their time to be our models! We created 200+ fresh images showcasing their Boston space, services (education, pajama drive, books, toys, etc.), social workers interacting with the kids, and of course – lots of family love.
Below are a few of our personal favorites!
