My couples love to travel. They’ll take any reason to do so, but often don’t need a reason to take a romantic trip together in New England! Some love grand adventures like mountaineering, scuba diving, or a safari. Others love relaxing weekend in front of the ocean. I’ve lived in New England for my entire life and I’ve loved being able to take mini getaways at these ten locations.
These romantic destinations for New England getaways are perfect for
New England mini-moon locations
pre-wedding vacation spots
New England bachelorette or bachelor party locations
Chatham Bars Inn
This luxury resort sitting atop Pleasant Bay is one of the most beautiful destinations in all of New England. From idyllic sunrises over Pleasant Bay to evening walks on quaint, tree-lined country roads, the Chatham Bars Inn is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. The heated pool and private beach are just icing on the cake. Check out some of my Chatham Bars Inn wedding photos here.
Nantasket Beach Resort
Located on the shores of Massachusetts Bay, the Nantasket Beach Resort is a true New England paradise. This is a wonderful resort for active couples, as you will be walking distance to not only the best restaurants, but also several options for surfing lessons and long nature hikes. Don’t sleep on the attached Paragon Grill for a casual meal with fantastic views.
The Square in Falmouth
This rustic inn sits next to the entrance to the scenic Beebe Woods but is a quick walk or drive to the water for those who prefer the aquatic life. With so much to do in the historic town of Falmouth, this is an excellent choice for a quick weekend trip but can easily be enjoyed for an extended stay.
Cliff House Resort in Maine
Don’t let the size of this resort fool you – you’ll feel like you’re staying at a small bed and breakfast. With expansive ocean views and an in-house spa, you may not want to leave. But if you do want to get out, the drive down Shore Road is breathtaking.

Wentworth by the Seas
This is a truly elegant hotel in one of the most gorgeous parts of New England. Nestled in the trees of New Castle but with easy access to the water, you really get the best of both worlds. There are plenty of restaurants, nature reserves, and yacht charters to keep you occupied for a week or more.
Accessible only by ferry, Block Island is a truly isolated dream retreat. With lush greenery in the summer and extravagant foliage in the fall, couples are sure to have a wonderful time on Block Island. For the physically active, there are plenty of options for hiking, cycling, sailing, and water sports.
It’s easy to see why Nantucket has been such a well-known destination for so long. The island is rife with picturesque lighthouses, rich forests, and delightful beaches. Seafood lovers have plenty of restaurant options for fresh fish, and the sailing community is a wonderful perk for aspiring seafarers.
Located just west of Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard is another acclaimed island destination for New Englanders. Couples will be amazed by the terrain this tiny island provides! Bluffs grace the edges while thick forests sprawl across the mainland. There are also beautiful beaches surrounded by historic homes – what more could you ask for?
Winvian Farms, Connecticut
Winvian Farms provides a country experience that really lets couples unwind. With a perfect arrangement of quaint cottages throughout the land, the farms are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenery. But that’s not all there is to do, as luxurious meals and a wide range of outdoor activities are available year-round.
The Vandervilt, Rhode Island
The Vanderbilt isn’t quite a remote getaway, but the cute, historic town of Newport is perfect for romance. The marina is easily accessible, as are a variety of dining and nightlife options. This is great for couples who want to relax but still have the option of socializing.
