WHY DO I NEED A TRIGGER?

A trigger is a device that mounts to the hot shoe of your camera and fires flashes that are not physically attached to the camera. This item is essential for “off camera flash” use.

You don’t need one if you plan on using your flash on camera only, but I love being able to wireless trigger my off-camera flashes.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GODOX AND FLASHPOINT?

GODOX X2T VS FLASHPOINT R2 PRO MARK II

The Godox X2T and the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II are great triggers for photographers. The main difference between these two products is that one comes with Adorama support, while another does not- so it’s important to know which brand you’ll be purchasing before making your purchase decision!

To make it short, the Godox X2T is the exact same product as the Flashpoint R2 markII and the Godox xPro2  is the exact same product as the Flashpoint R2 Pro markII.

The Flashpoint brand is under the Adorama umbrella, and so, if you purchase the Flashpoint branded products, it also includes Adorama support and warranty.

THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE GODOX X2T and FLASHPOINT R2 PRO MARK II

Godox’s Wireless Flash Triggers are the perfect way to get your photos taken without having anything subtle or complicated about them. They have an easy-to-use interface that allows you complete control over at least five groups, wireless range up100 meters outside interference accessible environments, plus HSS technology. Which helps avoid camera shake when using off-camera lights! The trigger also comes lit by LCD panels making photography more convenient.

Are you looking for an affordable dual flash trigger with all the features you need? If so, look no further than the Godox X2T and Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II . These triggers have many similarities, but there are a few key differences that set them apart. Let’s take a closer look at what each one has to offer.

Both the Godox X2T and its more expensive brother, the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II  offer excellent features for any professional photographer. They can both be mounted onto your camera’s hot shoe to provide reliable off-camera flashlights with 32 channels available in each model!

With their similar features, it’s easy to see how these two little wonders from Godox can be so invaluable in the world of photography. The X2T and R2 Pro Mark II  both use wireless communications for reliable off-camera flash triggers while having an extendable range up to 328 ft / 100 m!

The similarities between the Godox X2T and Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II  are much more than just their frequencies. Both use two AAA batteries, have a radio frequency of 2.4GHz, and offer comparable features in an easy-to be held format with plenty going on under the hood!

BOTH triggers can be used with any of Godox’s latest flashes, including the AD series, V1, etc. They have a built-in 2.4 GHz receiver so that they will work on all any camera brand- from Canon/ Nikon Sony Olympus Panasonic Fujifilm Pentax – even if you don’t see it listed here!

THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE GODOX X2T  and FLASHPOINT R2 PRO MARK II

Groups

The group letter system on a trigger allows you to set different flashes at various power/ modes and then fire them altogether. You can assign every flash with its own unique number for easy organization, making it incredibly simple!

The Godox X2T has 5 groups (A, B ,C, D, E) while the more advanced model Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II boasts 16 setting options for photographers who want to take their skills even further!

Hot Shoe

When it comes to photography, there are a few pieces of equipment that are absolutely essential. One of those pieces is a hot shoe top mount. This little piece of gear allows you to connect flashes and other accessories to your camera, giving you more flexibility and control over your photos.

The Hot Shoe on the Godox X2T is perfect for photographers who want to use their camera with an external flash, while it’s not needed in some cases with other top mount cameras like those from Canon or Sony. Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II does not have a hot shoe

Size

Godox X2T is larger at 2.83 x 2.76 x 2.28″ / 72 x 70 x 58 while the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II  is taller at 3.5 x 2.3 x 2″ / 90 x 58 x 50 mm. Depending on your camera equipment and how you work as a photographer, the sizes of wireless flash triggers may make a significant difference or none at all.

Weight

Photographers may be very particular with the weight of their equipment. As a profession that always needs to be on the go, you may be considering equipment to be as light and hand as possible.

Godox X2T is heavier at 3.17 oz / 90 g while the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II is 2.8 oz / 80 g. They may weigh differently but if you think that there’s not much of a difference, then this factor won’t really be much a of a bother to you.

Mobile App

Recently, Godox has released an app for your phone called “Godox Photo”, which allows you to change all settings from anywhere at any time! This means no more fumbling around with tiny buttons or jumping through hoops just so that we can take our photos correctly. The best part is it’s available on both iOS and Android systems – meaning there are thousands more photographers who will be able to enjoy this revolutionary tool in their daily professional lives!

Unfortunately, this app doesn’t work with the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mark II but it works wonders with the Godos X2T. The App doesn’t control the flash units directly but instead it controls the X2T Transmitter via Bluetooth, and the X2T controls the Flash units.

Not only does Bluetooth allow us wireless communication between camera/phone app, but it also offers more creative options. This includes sending shots wirelessly while recording video or taking pictures without having to connect any cables at all.

Update: Adorama recently released the Flashpoint R2 app which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store of Google Play. Using this app will allow you to control Godox flashes and LED lights directly from your smartphone. You can control the power, settings and even update firmware.

GODOX X2T HIGHLIGHTS

BLUETOOTH CONNECTIVITY AND OTHER BLUETOOTH FUNCTION

Godox’s new X2T unit is a revolutionary product that features fantastic connectivity options for your smartphone! You can control the lights from an app on iOS or Android, which makes life more accessible than ever before.

Some photographers think it’s easier to manipulate the buttons and dial directly on the unit, but the app has another cool feature. The app has some excellent features that let you control your flashes without hassle. One of these is the ability to take photos with just one tap and then have them match up accordingly so they’re all appropriately matched in tone!

OTHER FEATURES INCLUDE:

  • Improved User-Interface
  • Dedicated Group Buttons
  • Bluetooth Connectivity (connect X2 to tablet or smartphone) (download GodoxPhoto app)
  • Twist-Lock Hoe Locking Mechanism
  • Relocated Control-Wheel
  • USB-C Firmware Port
  • 1/10th-Stop Flash Adjustments

FLASHPOINT R2 PRO MARK II

DOUBLE TAP TO TURN GROUPS ON OR OFF

Flashpoint has now introduced a new function that allows photographers to double tap the group button. It’s as simple and easy-to-use as can be! I love this feature because it takes my controlling groups one step closer. It makes things much simpler for me in general with using all these different shooting modes available.

It takes a little time to get used to since the group button is now around the wheel as opposed to on the left hand side of the LCD from the previous Godox models. So if you’ve been using the Xpro for a while, it will take a little time for your muscle memory to adapt.

Other Features Includes:

  • Large Number Setting
  • Larger LCD
  • Bluetooth App Compatible
