Elisa and Darren’s Chinese Banquet wedding at Quincy China Pearl

Elisa and Darren’s Traditional Boston Chinese wedding day started with a door crash and a tea ceremony in Quincy, MA. The bridesmaids presented a difficult set of door game challenges to the groomsmen, who all handled it with aplomb – especially the pushups! I was wholly impressed. I loved the groomsmen’s individual Pokemon pins and the bridesmaids’ Eevee gifts!

Traditional, United, and Happy

Elisa and Darren had a very family-focused wedding day. Their double Chinese Tea Ceremony in Quincy and Weymouth honored their families and elders. The two have a relationship based on great communication. Elisa and Darren love working on projects together and spending time with one another. They even gym together! He’s very logical and she’s very mindful. They can be cute, mad, and happy in a matter of moments.

Darren said, “Through the vast depths of the ocean, I finally found my fishie!”

This was in 2018. They first met via a friend’s car ride to friend’s sushi restaurant soft opening in August 2014. Their first date, from Elisa’s perspective, was Six Flags. However, Darren feels that it was dimsum at Hei La Moon! Their first big adventure was Salem, MA in 2015 and their happily-ever-after starting date was July 29, 2019.

Side note: Elisa’s mother’s house is 0.2 miles away from mine!

Their grandmothers had a story I’ve never heard before

During the wedding reception, Darren’s grandmother noticed Elisa’s grandmother and mentioned that she looked familiar. The two realized that they had worked together in the 80s when the two immigrated to Brighton, MA. Forty years later they reunited at their wedding of their grandchildren. I love the photo of Elisa’s mother exclaiming, “It’s such a small world”. The grandmothers held hands, kissed each others hands, and had a beautiful reuniting.
