Smiles By The Mile Ice Cream

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

The “why” is easy:  my friends and family will tell you that working with ice cream has been a long time dream for me, but it was all about waiting for the right moment, as with so many things in life.  I could happily eat ice cream at every meal, and in between!

The “how” is somewhat serendipitous:  although casually “planning” for years to make my dream come true, all the stars suddenly aligned in Spring 2019, when I unexpectedly found my perfect truck – a classic vintage style that brings you back to your childhood. It happened very quickly and it was quite incredible how it all unfolded!  Ask me when you see me. Now I am the lucky owner and operator of the best little truck – I call her “My Happy Truck” – and she brings so much joy to children and grown ups and everyone in the middle. Smiles By The Mile Ice Cream delivers ice cream treats and smiles everywhere we go – your wedding, rehearsal dinner, shower, birthday or…

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

Besides being the most adorable, happiest ice cream truck out there – it also has the coolest history:  this little truck has crossed the United States.  In the early 80’s it delivered newspapers for the The San Francisco Chronicle. Moreover, after being refitted as an ice cream truck, it made its way east to Ohio — and from there to me in Massachusetts, after delighting children for generations.  How many ice cream trucks can claim that amazing journey?  My next dream?  Driving her back to California!

What is the fan favorite item on your menu?

That’s a tough one – of all the delicious, nostalgic pre-packaged ice cream treats we offer – Chips Galore Sandwich, the original Bomb Pop, Strawberry Shortcake, and SpongeBob popsicle are all fan favorites.

If a couple were to ask for a ballpark price range of what most couples spend on food truck services with you, what would you tell them?

My prices vary depending on location, travel distance, time of day, number of guests, and duration.  However, wedding prices start at only $299.

What advice would you give to all couples about having a food truck at their wedding?

Ice cream at a wedding is the best. My ice cream truck makes it easy and simple for you –  no long wait, and no fuss – offering a great way to keep folks of all ages happy and content.  And it also makes a perfect, charming, and fanciful backdrop for fun photos!

3rd Alarm Wood Fired Pizza

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

Growing up, there were two constants in my life: fire trucks and eating great homemade pizza. I knew I always wanted to follow in the family business and become a firefighter, which I have been since 2009. Cooking was always a hobby, and I enjoy making family favorites for my group in the fire house. it finally dawned on me that these two passions could work together. So I set out to restore an old truck and install a wood fire oven. Now I hope to be able to bring a unique experience to your next event.

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

We provide high quality pizza with a completely unique experience. Moreover, all of our pizzas are hand made and cooked in our wood fire oven that we installed in the back of a 1968 mack fire truck. A perfect fit for corporate events, weddings, family functions and community events of all kinds.

North American Catering Co.

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

I started my company after deciding that I wanted to take a shot a working for myself. Before this, I was working for a different food truck for a few years with a lot of success, and had many years of restaurant management experience before that, so I felt I was ready. I wasn’t sure what to call the company, but I knew that I wanted to do American style food, and that I wanted to use the term “catering” in the name to give me a broader spectrum in the industry. I figured we were in the northeast, so I just combined all aspects of my idea for a company into “North American Catering (NAC)”.

After what felt like years of searching, I went out and bought the best truck I could possibly afford. My father and I spent many months renovating and repairing it to get it fully operational. Once we were finished, I was able to obtain my first permit in the small town of Chelmsford MA. I started going to businesses and offering breakfast and lunch 5 days a week, where I would arrive and leave at the same scheduled times everyday.

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

What’s really cool about my truck is the fact that it’s a 1987 Grumman Olsen. The truck is honestly older than I am, and still in incredible shape. It’s taken a lot to maintain and repair it to keep it that way but that’s just part of the process with these trucks. I like to think that because it’s so old that it’s good luck, because anything that’s been around that long and still standing must be lucky.

What is the fan favorite item on your menu?

My customers love chicken sandwiches. The Deluxe Spicy Chicken sandwich with siracha aioli is definitely my most popular item.

If a couple were to ask for a ballpark price range of what most couples spend on food truck services with you, what would you tell them?

For full service (5 hr.) wedding you can probably expect to pay around $3000-$4000 per truck (feeding 150 guests). This is substantially less than the average cost per person seen at a typical wedding venue for food.

What advice would you give to all couples about having a food truck at their wedding?

If you are having a food truck as the main course for a wedding, I would recommend going with more than one. Going with two or three trucks for a 100-200 person wedding will cut the lines down, and will offer to your guests the ability to try different things off each menu. It also offers a window for some late night snacking or some food to go on the way back to where they are staying.

The Whoopie Wagon

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

Mary and Chris met at JWU in Providence RI. Mary was pastry and Chris was culinary. Fast forward to marriage, 3 boys and a family business; the Topsfield Bakeshop.

Mary had been doing cakes and pastry out of the family home as the boys grew up and went to school. When the 3 young men left for college, Mary seized the opportunity of an empty nest to pursue her bakeshop dream. Opening in their hometown of Topsfield MA, Mary continued to provide her community with delicious treats. The demand for retail and new products lead to the creation of the Whoopie Wagon.

After producing a delicious recipe for the Original Whoopie, more and more flavors evolved. The Whoopie Wagon brand has grown to a fleet of 4 trucks (and currently 3 store fronts). In addition, we serve over a dozen different flavors and travel all over New England!

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

The logo definitely catches people’s attention on and off the highway. The simplicity of the interior is probably the coolest part since there is no production on board; everything is made fresh and safe in our brand new production facility in Topsfield.

What is the fan favorite item on your menu?

The pumpkin whoopie will always be my #1. However, despite not being a fan of pumpkin growing up, I immediately fell for the festive fall flavor.

If a couple were to ask for a ballpark price range of what most couples spend on food truck services with you, what would you tell them?

There is a flat fee to get the truck to come to your event for one hour. Since we are dessert, the one hour should be more than enough time for guests to grab their favor. You always have the ability to extend if you want us there longer! You pick the amount of pies, flavors, how they are wrapped. How long you have the truck + how many pies = your total.

Don’t want the Wagon there? We can drop off and have your staff serve our product! Regardless, you can anticipate spending well under 10$ per person.

What advice would you give to all couples about having a food truck at their wedding?

HAVE US! We have loved including weddings with the various events we do year round. Our customers’ faces light up at any occasion, even more so at such a memorable event.

Bon Me

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

Bon Me is run by Boston-bred duo Patrick Lynch and Ali Fong. The business was born in 2010 when the two decided to enter the City of Boston’s Food Truck Contest on a whim and surprised themselves by winning. With their win came the opening of the first Bon Me truck in 2011.

Our name and food are inspired by the classic Vietnamese bánh mì sandwich. The Bon Me Sandwich, our most popular item, is a decidedly non-authentic bánh mì, and those daring enough to take a step outside the traditional are sure to be met with a tasty meal made with the freshest ingredients and full of bold, unique flavors.

We strive to make as many house made items as we can. From the drinks to the dressings, if we can make it from scratch, we will. We’re also aware of the many dietary restrictions our customers have – as a result, there are numerous vegan, vegetarian and gluten friendly options on board.

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

Founders Alison Fong and Patrick Lynch started Bon Me in 2011, transforming a used DHL delivery truck bought from a guy named “Big Jim” to make the first of 8 colorful food trucks.

The Namesake

UNCLE E’S BBQ EXPRESS

What’s your company story? How and why did you start your company?

Uncle’s BBq BBQ was started back in 2016, after being laid off from my day job, I decided to take my future in my own hands, and go for my dream. I always had the love, and passion for great BBQ foods, with my African background, I knew I could introduce a new style of BBQ by utilizing the spices that we used back in Congo Africa, and mix it with what we have here in the States. Today we offer I believe the best BBQ food in the state of MA.

What is the coolest thing about your wedding food trucks?

I love operating a food truck. We get to travel to many events, and meet a lot of people. Moreover, we get to try other food trucks’ foods for free! We get the chance to have fun, and at the same time make money, that’s really cool.

What is the fan favorite item on your menu?

Our pork ribs are our best seller, and our pulled pork, but everything is delicious.

If a couple were to ask for a ballpark price range of what most couples spend on food truck services with you, what would you tell them?

It all depends on the type of events, it can range from $1000 for a really small event of 50 people, or $5000 for a big event.

What advice would you give to all couples about having a food truck at their wedding?

Having a food truck at a wedding is the way to go now, not only it’s cost effective, but also it’s cool to have the food prepared on-site, and serve fresh out of the truck.
