Summer New York wedding at the Garrison in Hudson Valley
Vicky and John had a summer New York wedding at the Garrison in Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley is a special place for both Vicky and John. Vicky spent the first five years of her life in Westchester county and the Hudson Valley area. John graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point. The two met at a weekly Thursday night event at Stern as they attended there for their MBAs. Though they chatted for just a few minutes, they were both left with a lasting impression. Months went by before they ran into each other again and figured out that we were both going on the same trip to India. Fate and the alphabet caused all their seats on the multiple flights for that trip to be booked next to each other.
The day that John and Vicky got engaged, they rented a convertible SmartCar and drove all around Santorini, getting lost in tiny streets and eating fresh fish by the volcanic beaches. John told Vicky that we were going to a local spot for dinner recommended by the hotel, when really they were going to an intimate dinner that he had booked weeks in advance. When they arrived, they were taken down a candle-lit staircase that led to a restaurant with only three tables set among the beautiful white cliffs of Imerovigli. They had the main table on a balcony overlooking the Caldera at sunset, where John proposed.
I’ll never forget Vicky and John’s summer New York wedding at the Garrison in Hudson Valley. We started at this lovely airbnb where she got ready over a horse farm. There were donkeys, adorable Icelandic horses, and a stunning infinity pool that looked over the valley. With the right timing, the clouds passed over the sun and provided beautiful light for a Vicky’s first look with John, and also Vicky’s first look with her emotional father. The cocktail hour start just as the sun started to set, and all the guests were outside to capture the remarkable sunset colors. Because Vicky and John were able to photograph their family formals as well as bridal party formals before the wedding, they were also able to enjoy the cocktail hour sunset!
