Hampshire House is not only a turn-of-the-century mansion on historic Beacon Hill, but it’s also where generations of Bostonians have gone to relax and enjoy themselves. The restaurant has been running for more than 100 years – you can taste its history in every bite!

The Hampshire House is a historic building in Boston, Massachusetts. It was designed and built for fellow Brahmins Bayard and Ruth Thayer during the 1910s by Ogden Codman – an architect who specialized exclusively with elite clientele of this sort at his disposal. It then became known as The Hampshire House after World War II when they sold their property. This gorgeous architectural structure has been witness to many important events and was even leased to hotel owners of the Lincolnshire Hotel on Charles Street.

Thomas A. Kershaw has been the owner of the Hampshire House since 1969. Since then, the Hampshire House has been the ideal choice for special occasions. Its interior decor gives an aura of those grand days when the Thayer’s entertained in their magnificent mansion on Beacon Hill. Now you, too, can be a part of history at the Hampshire House.

In 1969 Thomas A. Kershaw became its owner and since then this establishment has become one choice among many when it comes to special occasions or simply celebrating life’s most joyous moments with family members near and far. HOW MUCH IS A HAMPSHIRE HOUSE WEDDING?

When you rent the Hampshire House for your wedding reception or ceremony, it will be a memorable experience unlike any other. Your guests can enjoy 5 hours of event time excluding set up and clean down which means they’ll never have to worry about those pesky finishing touches! They also offer an unbeatable food selection to make sure every guest has something different but delicious on their plate.

Wedding Ceremony Site Fee: $600-$1000

Additional hours: $300 per hour

The five-story building features Italian marble floors throughout its reception locations. It also includes lavished with oak paneling throughout its interior as well as an abundance of chandeliers for those who wish to gaze upon them while they sip their afternoon tea or dance into evening hours on these very same carpets over 100 years later!

The Library

The library at the Hampshire House is an amazing space that can be used for wedding ceremonies or receptions. Dark mahogany walls, crystal chandelier, and bookcases surround this room giving it an authentic Library feel! It’s no surprise why so many people choose to get married here. “I got married at Hampshire House last weekend and I cannot say enough great things about the venue, food, and staff!!! We decided to postpone our larger reception but still wanted to have an intimate ceremony and dinner with family on our original date. That is when we found Hampshire House. I honestly wish we had found it sooner because it was everything we wanted and more. Michele was SO easy to work with from the very beginning, was super responsive, and made navigating a micro wedding during a pandemic a breeze. She was onsite to help coordinate everything the day of the wedding and she even ran to find me a Tide to Go pen when I spilled something on my dress during dinner. The food and service were amazing, everyone has not stopped raving about how good the food was. And I’m not talking good by wedding food standards, I’m talking by foodie standards. I also loved that they let you pick 4 different entrees to offer your guests (from a huge list) and none of them were upgrades or extras including steak, lamb, swordfish, etc. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees, to the cake, was delicious and beautiful. The library room is such a gorgeous and cozy location for a winter wedding in Boston (or any other season really). Plus the location makes for some amazing photos both inside and outside in Beacon Hill and the Public Garden. I cannot recommend HH enough!!”
